my thoughts on the Hulk 2003-06-25 - 2:56 PM I saw the Hulk yesterday, and i'm really glad Nick Nolte has found a way to take that grungy mug-shot look and make it work for him. Also, I was pretty much expecting a movie where the Hulk smashes shit (seriously, that was my selling line when trying to convince my friend to see it: "c'mon, let's go see the Hulk smash shit up! Dude, he's the Hulk, that's what he does, he smashes shit. He's the best. You know it's going to be awesome."), so we snuck beers into the theatre to watch Hulk smash. Unfortunately, there was also loads of drama, which is not a bad thing necessarily, just not what i was expecting and definitely not what i wanted to see while semi-drunk. so my verdict on the hulk: do not see while drunk. also, i did not hear the hulk refer to himself in third person. not once. c'mon Mr. Ang Lee, couldn't you just had him say "HULK MAD!" or "HULK HATES HIS DADDY" or something? one other beef is that sometimes instead of smashing stuff, the hulk did a lot of posturing, like he was trying to fake someone out. like how tough guys do when there's the possibility of a fight: "huh? you wanna mess with me? c'mon bitch. bring it on. i'll fuck your shit up." he didn't say this verbally, but it was in his body language, the way he'd kinda flex and tighten his fists and stick his chest out, and act like he was about to smash or something but then not do it.
