i make, the world takes

so yeah it's the new year hurrah hurrah. i went to NYC; my friend Ann Liv and her roommate Katy were having a little party in their Brooklyn loft apartment. it was a nice little party and i drank enough rum so that i could dance, but not enough that i was shitfaced or anything. I also found that I was quite adept at DJing. Some fucko kept putting on bad tunes, so i took over and got the party rockin' with a little "Hey Ya," which is a great song to dance to.

then the next night, Katy; AnnLiv; Ann Liv's crush, Michael; and I watched The Apartment, directed by Billy Wilder and starring Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine. It was the best movie i've seen in a long time. I've never been a huge fan of Jack Lemmon, but he was fantastic in this movie. Same goes for Shirley MacLaine. Plus there was just so many little things that made me smile, like the way Lemmon placed his martini olives on the bar, or how MacLaine pressed the elevator buttons. The ending seems a bit contrived, but it's still one of my all-time favorite movies.

We also rented a movie called "How To Stuff a Wild Bikini," which was a really bad beach party movie starring Frankie Avalon and the girl from the Mickey Mouse Club. it wasn't even so-bad-it's-good. just really bad.

Oh, one other thing I wanted to mention: I go to NYC by taking the NJ Transit Northeast Corridor train line, so I have to drive to Trenton, which is just across the river from Philly. Anyway, when driving across the river, I can see another bridge that is just next to the one I drive on, and in big neon letters it says, "Trenton Makes, The World Takes." I suppose this is supposed to be a prideful boast, but it always seemed like a bitter complaint to me.
