consumerism, parties, and a movie
2004-01-03 - 11:22 PM

Presents I have bought myself:
David Cross, "Let America Laugh" DVD
The Office, "The Complete First Series" DVD
Fat Bald Jeff by Leslie Stella
The Tesseract by Alex Garland

I've been to two small parties (gatherings, really) over this vacation, and at both i wasn't the wallflower i usually am, which made me really happy. i talked to people, danced, made jokes, and felt very witty. if only i continue to act the same way when i get back to Idaho.

saw "In America" with my parents. it was kind of uneven, with some very dull moments and some very emotional moments. it certainly isn't one of Jim Sheridan's better films, and there was a blatant rip-off of The Langley Schools Music Project, but i guess i liked it. it made me cry (seriously, there was one part in the first five minutes that made me choke up for a second, although i'm sure it's just because i feel more. no, actually i'm being weirdly emotional today, due to a lack of sleep and other things), and i tend to like any movie that makes me cry. Djimon Hounsou was excellent, and i'd like to see a movie where he's not second fiddle to the white main character.
