Eastern Europe, here I come 2004-02-18 - 2:55 PM Last week I was watching a game show where one of the prizes was a trip to Russia, and I was like, "Who wants to go to Russia?" But then I realized: I do. There's many reasons I'd like to visit Eastern Europe (doesn't necessarily have to be Russia). One is that I really like the St. Petersberg levels in the Hitman 2 videogame (I also love the movie Enemy at the Gates). It seems like such an enchanting place, that Russia. Also, I love winter. I mentioned this to Danny, and he said, "No you don't." To which I replied, "Okay, yeah, but I hate summer more." I've grown to love cold weather and gently falling snow, even though I once had a love of oceans and beaches. Russia seems like the ultimate place to drink vodka just because it's cold. I don't know. These are all really lame reasons to visit Russia, and I can't really describe why I want to visit there. It's not because of some video game. It's because I feel, deep in my heart, that I'd feel at home in Eastern Europe. So now Russia is on top of my foreign places to visit list, which I shall provide for you here:
1) Russia (or maybe the Czech Republic or something) It's probably not extremely obvious because I don't talk about it much, but ever since I moved off the farm I've been jobless. For a while I sank into a long sleepy hibernation, but lately I've been out applying for jobs everywhere (instead of just saying I'm trying to get a job). This week I noticed that the local independent CD store is hiring, so I'm definitely going to give them my resume. It's a shame that I shaved off my beard, though, because it seems like every guy that works there has one. Maybe I should note on my resume that I'm capable and willing to grow a beard? Also, I really want to learn how to knit.
