what i like to call "my little observations," if you will 2003-09-18 - 12:57 PM Random and Unconnected Thoughts: since i don't have any internet access on the farm, the easiest and bestest way to check my email and update my site is to go to the local college and use the free computers in the Student Union Building. it makes me feel like a bit of a fraud. a pretend college student. when i run into people i know, it's the worse. "oh look, how sad. he has to hang out in the SUB and pretend he's a college student. he's getting more and more delusional every day." they probably don't think this, but i can't help but fear that they do. a young woman behind me just said "you go, girl" in all seriousness. how very sad it is to live in this state. in the past few days, i have started growing a goatee (with moustache). i was thinking about shaving it off this morning, but then i decided to give it a few more days. still, i can't help but feel like a silly goatee man. a silly goatee man trying to look like Ethan Hawke circa "reality bites" (when everyone knows that if you're trying to look like Ethan Hawke, you should aim for the stylin' "Gattaca" look). But i'm not trying to look like Ethan Hawke. or even a silly goatee man. so i don't know why i started growing the goatee. i've convinced myself. i'll shave it off as soon as possible. i've been listening to "Louder Than Bombs" by The Smiths nonstop lately. My friends Danny and Tom want to see "Underworld" this weekend, while i'm all about "Matchstick Men." It might be a problem. I mean, you cannot beat a movie about con men starring Nicolas Cage and Sam Rockwell. you can't. not possible. also, it's about a con man with Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, something with which i am afflicted (although some medication and self-control take care of it), so it's close to my heart. Underworld, one the other hand, has unhairy-looking werewolves in the previews. i brought this up to Tom, and he responded, "Who says werewolves have to be hairy?" Well, they are wereWOLVES, which, last time i checked, are hairy.
